The Maiden Lane Estate in Kings Cross, featuring both original low-rise buildings from the late 20th century and newer mixed tenure blocks added in 2017, is set to undergo a transformative heating network upgrade. The current system, plagued by inefficiencies and frequent service disruptions, will be replaced. The upgrade aims to consolidate heating and water services for the estate into a single, more efficient and controllable energy centre, contributing to Camden's goal of reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 40%. This modernisation includes the introduction of a communal air source heat pump system and the installation of Heat Interface Units (HIUs) in each resident’s home. These HIUs, equipped with integrated heat metering, will allow residents to enjoy on-demand hot water and space heating, with the added benefit of billing based on their actual consumption. This guarantees energy usage that is both highly efficient and tailored to individual needs. This initiative focuses on installing new radiators and pipework throughout the estate, significantly improving heat efficiency and distribution in each home. By incorporating thermostatic controls, residents gain the ability to adjust their heating according to personal preference, promoting both energy savings and cost efficiency. These enhancements are designed to boost thermal comfort in homes, aligning with current energy conservation goals. The project is estimated at £12 million and has received £3m of Green Heat Network funding toward the total estimate. two.1.5) Estimated total valueII.1.5) Estimated total value Value excluding VAT: £12,000,000 two.1.6) Information about lotsII.1.6) Information about lots This contract is divided into lots: No two.2) DescriptionII.2) Description two.2.3) Place of performanceII.2.3) Place of performance NUTS codes UK - United Kingdom two.2.4) Description of the procurementII.2.4) Description of the procurement as above two.2.5) Award criteriaII.2.5) Award criteria Price is not the only award criterion and all criteria are stated only in the procurement documents two.2.6) Estimated valueII.2.6) Estimated value Value excluding VAT: £12,000,000 two.2.7) Duration of the contract, framework agreement or dynamic purchasing systemII.2.7) Duration of the contract, framework agreement or dynamic purchasing system Duration in months 24 This contract is subject to renewal No two.2.9) Information about the limits on the number of candidates to be invitedII.2.9) Information about the limits on the number of candidates to be invited Maximum number: 6 Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates: Please see the SQ documents which outline both the Pass/Fail and the Project Specific Scored Questions available from Proactis. two.2.10) Information about variantsII.2.10) Information about variants Variants will be accepted: Yes two.2.11) Information about optionsII.2.11) Information about options Options: No two.2.13) Information about European Union FundsII.2.13) Information about European Union Funds The procurement is related to a project and/or programme financed by European Union funds: No Section three.
